Learn to confidently tackle real-world agribusiness issues and opportunities. You’ll come away with a comprehensive understanding of Agribusiness, Value Chains and Consumers in Global Food Systems.

The ACIAR funded Agribusiness Masterclass series is intended to develop participants’ skills and experience in conducting market, consumer and value chain research. It’s designed for those working in government, the private sector, Non-Government Organisations and academia with a need for producing rigorous research on which to make decisions that impact agribusiness development.

Fiji’s Masterclass will focus on real-world agribusiness issues and opportunities which require research to provide workable solutions. The format will include classroom teaching interspersed with guest speakers sharing their insights. Participants’ will also work in teams to conduct a mini research project, including site visits and data collection and analysis to apply the skills learnt in a hands-on way. The mini research project will be centred around four themes – kava, cocoa, agritourism and vegetables.

You will:

  • Learn about value chains and agrifood markets
  • Identify and define market and value chain research questions
  • Understand and apply appropriate research methods
  • Develop data collection methods
  • Learn about tools for analysing and communicating results

The Masterclass will be held from 2–7 September 2019 at Nasau Resort and Villas in Nadi.

The Fiji Agribusiness Masterclass is delivered through a partnership between The University of Adelaide, PARDI 2 Team, and supported by the Pacific Island Farmers Organisation Network (PIFON).
